This policy explains how the current Discover Shirley website uses cookies and similar browser-storage technologies.
What the site uses today
The current build does not load analytics, advertising or cross-site marketing scripts. It uses local browser storage to remember the privacy choice you make in the cookie panel. This avoids asking you the same question on every page visit.

Optional categories
The preferences panel includes switches for analytics and marketing so the site is ready to add those functions correctly later. At present, switching them on does not cause an analytics or advertising service to load because no such service is connected to this build.
Analytics
If analytics are added later, they should be connected to the consent mechanism and only activated in accordance with the applicable UK privacy rules and the choice shown in the panel, unless a specific legal exception applies and the policy is updated accordingly.
Marketing
No marketing or cross-site advertising technology is active. If that changes, this policy and the consent implementation must be updated before the technology is enabled.
Change your choice
You can reopen the preference panel at any time using the link in the footer. You can also clear the site’s local storage in your browser.
About UK cookie rules
UK rules on cookies and similar storage/access technologies sit mainly under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), alongside data-protection law where personal information is involved. Discover Shirley aims to use privacy-friendly defaults and to keep optional tracking off unless it has been deliberately introduced and properly accounted for.
